just finished reading this section, very impressive! the dialect is delivered very eloquently, and the setting described vividly.

Religion in Pirate's Wells (background)

This is a short story I wrote in November 2002.  It is one of my more popular pieces perhaps because large sections of it are written in Bahamian Dialect; perhaps because the protagonist is so simpathetic.

The story is set in Pirate's Wells, a fictional settlement on a sparcely populated Bahamian island.  Life is hard in Pirate's Wells where the residents live so far from the comforts and infrastructure of the capital and more populated regious of the country.

I hope you enjoy reading this piece and as always I ask for your feedback.
