sometimes when we thought it is already the best we can, we miss the chance of doing even better or excelling more coz we have already eliminated all doors believing there is nothing more than what we already have or done. Others are too afraid to find out or see there are better things than what they have/done. While some, fear unworthy of claiming or achieving what others have. Locking themselves up away from chances and choices. Thank you my dear poetess...

We do find ourselves in mediocrity after spending an entire lifetime in it
How sad, huh!

haha, this was WONDERFUL! We are "locked in" our mediocrity without knowing it sometimes....and this poem just got it on the money. You're such a wonderful writer!

That is food for thought.
One will have to search deep to answer the question of settling for second best. Do we sometimes.....?? I will be thinking about that. Sophie.

Troosha, do you suppose that, way down deep, we have some doubts that we are really worthy of the very best, so we settle short of the mark.

You're making a great point applicable to so many arts--
of the creative arts, athletics, drama... the art of life! So important, to learn to get out of your own way! I am still learning how to get out of mine...
This message comes across clearly and strongly.
I have a note of critique for you-- the centered format distracts me almost every time from your message. It is a light-hearted format that generally works well for playful poetry, less well for the more thoughtful poems you often write.

Troosha...
Well maybe that is why....because it is so
easy?
Maybe sometimes we are just resistant to change?
