Yes, it's about learning, and ... sometimes it's so much about learning that I think: where is the natural instinct of wise intelligence? - a gentle breeze /and/or/ a hard road : yes ! - thanks for your comment -  - genio

Re: to NiteTide

thanks for your comment - I think you misunderstood my poem. It didn't say that forgiving yourself is natural, it said that forgiving yourself is: as ointment that heals. - but - I would say that forgiving ourselves is a natural instinct but ... it can be corrupted and twisted by dangerous education and brainwash that lead ourselves, and others, into blaming ourselves, or projecting onto others, without understanding that we all do wrong now and then ... and from where we are in our development in life we should consider self forgiving as an important key - also as for ourselves for the sake of others -

Your words about the tendencies of doubt and blame I fully agree - but when we forgive others and tell ourselves that we should forgive others ... why can't we also tell ourselves that we should learn to forgive ourselves? -  - genio

Re: to sam444
Yes, you're right, freeing one's self - as the only responsible person in the world towards yourself you're the only one capable to do it - I suppose you would maintain, Sam, that it could be done within a religion by God or a prophet etc. and I believe it could be done if you're a believer that way, and that's great, and I respect it, but ... for me ... it's solely own responsibility, no religious 'backing' etc. --- thanks for your comment -  - genio

Re: gg - to Troosha -
Thanks for your words - yes, as you say: self-forgiveness is what it's all about - and I look at as a necessary instinct of surviving but ... sometimes it's hard to forgive our acts ... and then we're into self-condemning. I think it's a balance and, that's about our process here as humans: to learn -  - genio

I'm not so sure forgiving oneself is a natural reaction.....we have a tendency to doubt and blame ourselves easier than forgiving ourselves, I think.  Or perhaps that's just me.......

Forgiving you is the sweep on lif's path for sure. I read several of your poems and appreciate their wisdom.
