I, like you, had planned on ignoring as much of the Olympic Mania as possible--summer games just don't hold my interest like the winter ones do.
But reading your description here, I'm actually quite sorry I didn't tune in! Maybe I can find a re-run somewhere...pardon me, I'm off to do some serious channel surfing!

I agree with you....unlike any other opening ceremony....this year's just blew me away.....I was so engrossed, I couldn't even go to the bathroom or anything until it was over. LOL.

I watched most of it, and I agree, it was truly spectacular, and I enjoyed it! And it was also designed to make us forget, or not care about, Tibet and Darfur, to name but two issues...
