Yes I missed this. I am currently reading My Name is Red, by Orhan Pamuk
about a Turkish calligrapher and miniaturist. It is not a light read and will take months to finish but it is a fascinating old tale. It starts with the main character who is looking back on his life AFTER he has been murdered.
