Re: Religion is often the first & only conscious experience of spirituality
I hate to disagree with you and Xenoman but whatever you want to believe in is fine. However, I do disagree completely. What I find hard to understand is the time and energy spent on promoting the idea of God does not exist or a hatred towards God. I can not understand this at all. I am a Christian but I do not attack people in blogs or otherwise everyday about the same issue. That is an obsession. I also do not agree with the whole "All is one and one is all" type of hippie junk. When I read this stuff it seems I just walked back into 1968 rather than 2008. I get a chuckle out of people on here who personally proclaim themselves to be a minister or reverend or rename themselves Shazamm or whatever and they spend all of their time in some medevil make believe world. Sounds childish to me. But whatever floats your boat.

Religion is often the first & only conscious experience of spirituality
and that itself is the first obstacle.
Then there is the idea that there is only One: One right answer, one best path, one God... so whatever a person experiences as spirituality has to be The One, like it or not. Lot of cults built on that roadblock!
And then there are the salesmen...
