Interesting view
that got me thinking.  In my opinion the world seeks balance.  As an example, two polarities it needs to achieve balance is pardon and punishment.  The way it seems to be going now is an attempt at neutralizing these instead of keeping them strong and clearly distinguishable.  There is a fear of being perceived as harsh and uncompromising on the one hand and a fear of being perceived as being too effeminate on the other, so we end up with a mud-puddle that everyone is trying to swim in but that can never be "staked out" perfectly.  Yes and No has become Maybe and nobody knows were they stand in relation to this ambiguous stance.  The image I get of the masses is one of sheep trampling in a penned in circle that has become a soggy mess of mud and excrement in which many fall, get stepped on and drown in the collective crap.  The role models are simply sheep plucked from this cesspool and cleaned up a bit, but the crap sticks and smells all the same.  No clear direction discernable anymore.  This doesn't bother those who sell the meat though.  They still get money for the chops.
