Cognitive psychology is--in my humble opinion--
far more effective than psychotherapy, as it works with how things happen in the mind and brain, not just what happened or is happening to tangle things up. Understanding the mechanics and dynamics of the mind gives us more of a handle on changing and healing.
Another that sounds interesting is art therapy, using artistic expression to get clues about the goings-on in inner consciousness.
