dear shelly, there are lots of people who go back to school, even later. I had at least two friends who decided to go back to university for a degree after 40. I, myself, is thinking to go back to learn more about translation. While here and learning German (languages are NOT my forte but there I am!) I realised that once "in" the going gets easier. It is the first step that's the most difficult. So, go for it, IF you like it!

Do it. Trust me, if you need more money, then it will be worth it.

Besides, it never hurts to learn new things! (sometimes)

Talion, the thing is, for the daycare to pay for it...you are not allowed
to finish early. You have to do it for the whole 3 or 4 years.
And yes, I'm scared also.
Thanks for the comment!

I don't know about the program you mentioned, but usually the online schools are accelerated and without having to take a bunch of liberal arts crap like music appreciation and such, a student can finish rather quickly, two years if you jump on it with both feet.
I often think about going back to school at 40 (and even if I didn't, Queen V is there to remind me of the career benefits), and frankly, the thought scares me to death. Not as much as giving a sppech before a crowd of several thousand, but definitely more than squaring off with a Pacific Islander who's waving a rusty machete and screaming at me in a language I don't understand.

Shelly
The courses will be WORK, on top of the work you are already doing.
Can you handle working in this field, then working extra.
What it boils down to is....Is this what you REALLY want to do for the REST of your life? Because if it is not, it will be an incredible waste of your time and energy.
If you will hate this job in the end, than none of it will be worth anything.
So really THINK first....Is this what you WANT to do....then you should be able to answer your own question.

Shelly....no...
If that is how you feel about it...it probably wouldn't be a good idea.
If your feeling "stuck"...then 3-4 years of classes will only stress you out more.

There are several reasons I'd go back to school Shelly. One, to learn to use my sign language bettter...two, to learn Russian and Polish more fluently. I'd like to work as a translator in a hospital. Oh, and I'd really like to study acting!...
