Never noticed...
the connection, damn I'm slipping! I only read The Gunslinger and just didn't get in to it so haven't read the others; that's probably why I didn't really notice the connections in the other novels. Ah well.

I put it off, too . . . .
I am not a particular fan of the western gnere, so the first title in the series, The Gunslinger, did nothing for me. Then, a year or so ago, I read Hearts in Atlantis and there was mention of the dark tower and a few other things related to that. That made me curious, "Dang it," I said to myself, "now Im going to have to read The Gunslinger to see how it connects to Hearts in Atlantis. Well, after a few pages of The Gunslinger, I was hooked! Seveal other novels also relate to the Dark Tower series, just off the top of my head, Insomnia, Black House, and there are others I just can't remember right now.
Pretty much all that I have read of King I have enjoyed.

I'm a huge Stephen King fan, everyone of his books on my shelf and many in hardback, but I have just never been able to get into the Dark Tower series; I have no idea why, but I've never been much of a fantasy person. The closest I got to enjoying such work was King's The Eyes of the Dragon.
But enjoy the CD!
