government's press conferences have become.  Amazing that a precursor to economic collapse like the Indymac story barely rates a mention in the nation's leading newspapers.  Britney Spears must have forgot her panties back at the rehab...

Loribeth, he said that because the government ensures that they will guarantee deposits (i believe it's up to $100,000) That is what that little "We are ensured by the FDIC" sign means in nearly every US bank, (Read TAXPAYER dollars).

I heard about this on the news tonight as well

and the CEO of IndyMac actually had the nerve to tell their investors that everything is ok, and they have money to cover deposits. Really? Then why on earth would the government step in?  Sometimes these people just think that the public is stupid....
