Thanks, TAPS!

And this question has inspired the next post...

So we weave and build, on ideas and feelings stimulated and inspired by one another...

Everyone--thanks for your comments!

The lads and I are driving up to the mountains and the caverns today--going to Luray--and when we get back, I will come calling to all of you in your own blogs.

My next post here continues the conversation we've started here...

I drink water, eat an apple or go for a walk
any of which helps. Love the joke at the end.

Eating way too much and unhealthily is certainly a problem here. I find it interesting too how we seem to have problems in this country eating too much, but like you mentioned we have anorexia and bulimia as well.

Oh boy, you are so right, and also so inspirational! I read TAPS' post, and thought I might want to do a series, and yours reinforces that, but I can't. I have no time for any series now!

I love food, and I love to cook, I like to explore flavors and textures - but I don't  like to stuff myself, and rarely do. Generally I am quite moderate in my eating habits, and will not eat junk food. (Alright, I confess to the odd bag of chips to go with a beer or two.) I eat healthy and interesting food sparingly, and I work out! And I am utterly appalled at what I see happening out there...

I must admit that I over indulge where food is concerned.  I am a glutton.    Fortunately, I don't have a problem with obesity, but it makes me sad about all the children in the world who are doomed to obesity from the get go.  You hit the nail on the head where habits are concerned.

I'm one of those people who makes eating a "ritual" (for the lack of a better word).  Dinners, for example, is always a sit-down meal with candlelight, cloth napkins, a properly set table and it is followed by conversation - a meaningful exchange with Mr. T.  And those other meals (which I tend to forget about) are pretty much eating because I know I should.....

Ariala, I noticed that happening a few years ago, and I wonder
if it was not an early symptom of my diabetes.  Have you had yourself checked out for that lately?  (I postponed because I just hated the glucose tolerance test where you have to down an incredibly nasty citrus flavored syrupy drink.  But that isn't the test anymore--just a simple blood test!)

I find it's one thing and one thing alone for me: hormones. I try to drink
water when I'm hungry an hour later after having a good meal...as I get closer to menopause, these hormones are causing all kinds of things I've never experienced before. ARGH!
