OK, took more time.

The title for ths post is striking. I think it reflected the "me" in the earlier Blogit/Blogging Network, more than now, but for many (newer) others it rings true today.

To what extent can we comment and write believing it affects others and still express ourselves knowing (or thinking or hoping) that it can affect them for the better; or,(fearing), for the worse? For the infant BN, needing nurturance, maybe it was OK to go kamikaze, but now....

Years ago..

I saw this piece on cnn or whatever station about how for celebrities the reason that they can have a 5 minute spliced together mini-biography on the person's life..ready the moment they die is because they have staff that do that.

Writing on here, and reading other's stories. It's not neat and clean and edited with the right soundbed or graphics. We watch the news, but here, as you put it, we do witness others lives.

A turn of phrase that is unique to them, a topic that you could have written yourself. Makes me feel connected.

Good for you Azur -  I don't spend as much time as I'd like here either, but I'm glad I'm able to, and that's why I don't cancel my monthly subscription.

Re: I'm the same...I turn off the local news
Yes. Some of the people I 'witness' here are very good at depicting local news unlike me. I don't mind about people not commenting. i have just felt curious lately about if some for whom I am a long-term 'witness' see it in those terms, and wondered if they witness me silently, or not at all.

Re: So true, azur. I don't write anymore, just hang in here like maj........
Benzinha, I've just emerged from a very introspective phase of life. I like the lightness of now.

Yes, Majroj is quiet lately, but I know he is about.

I'm the same...I turn off the local news and am more interested in
international news...I think we all enjoy keeping up with what's going on in the lives of people we've known for years here.  We've all been through a lot and it does feel like an extended family, even when we don't comment.

We're like neighbors here on Blogit.
Chats over the back fence, keeping up with one another, maybe sending over a hot dish when someone's under the weather, sharing a bumper crop of tomatoes. We probably won't go anywhere else unless someone gets transferred to the other coast. It's familiar, convenient. And sometimes someone surprises us.  And yes, you're my witness. This is good.

Azur, you are right.  I want to read you and keep up on what is happening with you because I have done that for so long.  You are like a part of the family that I never get to see but that I care for because you are there and because I know you from reading.

I agree
witnessing is an important state of being.  The TV news repulses me.  I barley watch it.

I don't know what to say...
Other than, "I know the feeling."  And I give you a warm smile.

So true, azur. I don't write anymore, just hang in here like maj........

to witness and be read a bit, but not really....like writing to a favorite uncle, I suppose.

Just being Blogit for awhile longer and not really knowing why, other than nostalgia, maybe.

Thanks for hanging around. And thanks for the self examination that you periodically tell us about.....gets us in touch with our inner thoughtfulness, maybe.

I'm not as introspective anymore. Too tired.
