I so understand this..But what is great about it is that you noticed that he needed this "me" time..Not very many people would have noticed it..I am so proud of you, take care..

Kabu, you acted from the height of wisdom. It's really hard when you know that mates or friends or children (assuming they are old enough) really could use a little help - and when it would be easy for you to help - and when you want to help - but, they want to do it on their own. The greatest gift to them - and to your self - let them do it. Blessings to you and the Wiley one. Moon

Kabu, I love your analogy of a "little Aussie hen" -- and ruffled feathers!
You're truly a storyteller of the first order. As for Wiley, he knows he's lucky to have you, and if I'm not mistaken getting cranky and impatient is a sign he's on the road to wellness. Nice for you to have time for a cup of tea and a nice long blog. (hint, hint)

This is my first encounter with your blog and I must say I enjoyed reading it, and I felt very worried for Wiley!! Now, Wiley is....your son? Regardless, I am glad that things have gotten better and he was well enough to leave the house and get a haircut!!!

Wanting to do things on his own is a good sign
It might be frustrating for you, but I think it shows an amazing resilience in him, and a vast improvement on both his physical and mental well being.
Take heart--he'll be back before you know it, and ready to be pampered and taken care of again!

It's hard for us take charge women to be saddled and ridden.....
or to be left in the paddock nibbling grasses when there are races to be run, wagons to be pulled and barges to be toted....and men to be carried. We must remember and it is so darned hard, that those men and/or children (I can hear my kids now) ran everything before we recently appeared on the horizon.
But goldarnit, we have skills and knowledge and and and and........we should read more, probably or do our toe nails or feed squirrels and make them too fat to climb trees.
Watercolors? Salsa lessons? Balloon animal forming?

Sweet Grandmummy...
Of course it's difficult for you to let him be on his on just now. His health hasn't been proper of late and he's still fighting his way back from all of this. But then, so are you. Just try to remember that God is with him and is watching over him and will bring him back to you in one piece. No biting holes in your arms!
Love you....
