Thank you, NiteTide and Nautikos!

Although I was not looking for praise, I'm certainly happy to receive it!

It's easy to use abuse as an excuse, rather than a diagnosis, and I have seen it often.  I don't fault people for reacting that way, but I have never seen myself as a victim, and hate using that word, or talking about my "abuser" or "attacker".  Yeah, it happened, yeah, it wasn't something I'd want anyone else to experience, but there's WAY worse going on out there....Read The Lost Dutchman's blog, and you'll see what I mean.  Anyway, it's hard for me to take credit for being strong or whatever, 'cause it's not something I really planned...just the way I happen to be.  More of that stubborn pride, perhaps.  :)

Anyway, thank you both for your compliments, and for reading my blogs!  I'll try to get more up there, but summer is a very busy time for us....  I do read both of you daily, though!

MUAH!

You are surely a fantastic role-model for others!  Your successes in the face of adversity proves you are a stronger person than your past...who came out punching and kicking, with a sense of humor to boot!  I appreciate you all the more for all that you have gone through, and am so glad to have met a person like you on here!  Much love!

Beyond this one I have also been reading your other posts, and have especially enjoyed your Tales of Tails! For someone who has suffered abuse in childhood, you have come through it with flying colours, I would say. And I applaud you on the way you look after animals of people who cannot really afford veterinary service...

Re: Troosha

Exactly.  My biggest fear has always been that I would, due to my own issues (like the inexplicable bouts of rage), end up damaging my children.  The great thing about that is that it has in fact turned me into an exceptional (sorry to brag!) parent, something my counselor reminds me of whenever I beat up on myself too much.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

Although the entire post was extremely informative (and well written), you’re closing line resonated with me.  We may still battle our demons but if we do things differently with our children and we see them shining and living a good life, then we cease to be a victim.
