Just now I came in from the garden where I was grabbing paddles of nopal cactus with a garden claw thingie and tossing them into a huge green utility dustbin offered by the city for garbage collection, just at our time of glorious sunset. Though it was 7:45 or so p.m., the sun was still out and the temperature was still about 111 degrees F. Very warm.
It is illegal to put garden debris in them, but, I am too old and too poor to do otherwise.....I very slowly, a little each day, cut the nopales down to size, about one thousand pounds of paddles or so, and now, like the proverbial ant, I am placing them in city dustbins up and down the street, a little each week, until they go away....
But, the huge pile of bamboo in the back garden is something else. I have only cleared out five linear feet along the side brick wall and it is enough to build a breezy little hut on a sunny turquoise and white beach somewhere in Indonesia....sigh.

Sunsets
I love the sunset, it tells me it's nearly bedtime for the kids. Doesn't that sound great. Some peace at long bloody last.
