Just about, Glennb, although there is some merit for better policing of
them.  Still, for the most part, you're right.  It's just another fear tactic, considering that the administration that keeps telling us we have so much to fear (and McCain running on his pro-fear platform), has done absolutely nothing to change the way our security is conducted domestically, except for a few cosmetics and the addition of the largest department in the history of the United States, Homeland (In)Security...

Saul Relative,
I lost a great friend on Sept. 11, 2001! I am sick of these scare mongrels no matter their motive! America is safer for Americans than any other place on the Planet! "Protect the Borders" is simply an extension of the bull....t!

Asolutely...not, Glennb. Seven years almost after 9/11 and border and port
security are almost exactly what they were at the time of the tragedy.  Not much has been done in the way of strengthening security at airports.  Just ask Clark Kent Irvin, who was provisional director of Homeland Security when it first began.

Saul Relative,
It still puzzles me this "protect the American people" mantra that keep this buffoon from being expose as the most inept president in American history. Homeland Security? These focus-group titles are really working?
