I actually think she was upset
because she could see I was not pleased. It appeared to put her off her meal.

Well the poultry are going to Ilanit's house today
Which means I will not have to worry about them for a week while the back yard is secured and the coop cleaned.

Norwood, This is a sad post.  I have always loved ducks.  Do dogs really feel shame or is that your feelings projected onto the dog?  My grandson's husky killed a cat when it came into their fenced yard.  A large feral cat came into my yard and killed and ate a squirrel right below our deck.  Pitiful was very interested in the whole thing.  The man in our Independence suburb who was attacked and half-eaten and very disfigured by two pit bulls received a settlement this week of seven and a half million dollars.  Most of it will go to his hospital bills and rehabilitation and lawyer.  What a world we live in.

I have cats
And they would NEVER feel guilty about killing anything. In fact, Patches is quite proud of it. My kids daily chores include "shovel dead animal off the deck." Poor little, duck, though. When it's a pet, you get emotionally attached.
