I like the solid gold martyr button. I wonder if B-in-L knows that he has been talking to himself for 65 years?

Pat_B, That's quite a tale. I enjoyed it immensely because parts of it reminded me of family dilemmas of my own. In fact we just had one with quite a mixture of feelings and attitudes and I ended up entertaining a New Mexico relative that other family members were trying to ignore.

65 years
that's amazing, commendable, awe inspiring.
If I've done the math correctly, that would mean that BigSis tied the knot at 19--imagine, marrying so young, growing and changing as people and as a couple, sticking it out for all those years.
After 65 years, I'm sure that neither of them is the same person who was standing at the alter all those years ago. They've changed, become different (perhaps more annoying) versions of themselves. But they've changed together--maybe that's why she's still with him, because while they were changing, they were also learning to accept the people they'd become.

Pat B, i once mused with a friend (once-married, now gay - draw your own conclusions..) that I wondered how people managed to stay married for forty or fifty - or 65! - years. She told me you just learn to accommodate. I might add, you should accommodate each other.. it tends to go wrong when it's one-sided.

I think I agree with Nautikos, he is her husband and apparently he has some hidden secrets for that long lasting marriage. It is certain she does. She sounds lovely. Have fun with her when she comes by.

Pat, I once heard a woman long married what her secret was
A high boredom threshold, she said. I have been reading all here about Amy and the avatar, and this and all other posts. Still here but quietly so. Been writing.

LOL, Pat
I can see your point! But after 65 years of marriage, it's safe to assume that Sis saw more in and of BIL than you did - you only get the blather...
