Evil is as Evil does.

My wife and I had several years of premarital sex and that did not led to all these problems you say it does. We are very happy together and have a great family. As with anything it depends on how you view it and you own personal strengths. This of course starts into something that is a blog all of its own, so I am not going to explain it all here and now.

Once more I ask you "Why didn't God teach them how to cook the pork, instead of making it against the rules to eat it?"

I agree 100%. And yet according to some he could ask for forgivness and beleive in Christ at the last moment of his life (Not having done anything to show he feels remorse) and he will be forgiven and have a place in heaven.

against my better judgement, I am going to attempt a response to the questions you raise.  Yes, the Bible does say that disobedience to God's laws is evil.  It says that his laws are perfect (since he is God) and they are actually in place for our protection.  When we operate outside the structure of his perfect will, we reap negative consequences.  I could provide countless examples of how this is true.  In the bigger picture, sex outside marriage is a major reason for many of society's problems, as is adultery and divorce.  They are all interconnected and the result is broken hearts, numerous diseases from AIDS to cervical cancer, unwanted pregnancies, abortion, dysfunctional families, severe pyschological disorders, etc.  And these sins, as the Bible calls them--sex outside marriage between a man and a woman, adultery and divorce are rooted in our human nature, which is selfish.  The Bible calls everyone sinful and incapable, on our own, of adhering to God's perfect will by obeying his commands about how to live.  But it says that in Christ we can put off the old nature, dying to our sinful self, and allowing the life of Christ in us, the Holy Spirit, to transform us, until one day, when we reach heaven, we are completely transformed, body and soul.

Being that we are selfish and imperfect (we are not God), we cannot discern what is evil based on our own standards of what we think is "loving."  We cannot be objective about morality because we are subjective creatures, basing everything on personal experience and a limited amount of empirical data.  We want to decide what is evil and good because we don't want to feel inadequate and we don't want to be told "no." But the detioration of our society spells out the consequences of our drift from accountability to a higher authority.

Evil is listening to the Green River Killer just now on the tube...

admit to "killing as many women as I could..."  Listening to them do the roll call of the dead with Ridgeway not shedding a single tear... that's EVIL.

"So why would a loving God call so many things Evil?"

"Evil is when your force your views on others, no matter what the cost." - because Christianity has forced this non knowledge onto too many people...that was the answer to your question.
