Nothing I write about is about me, even if it seems that way sometimes!
It's really about my cousin Herbert (we call him Herbie), but he doesn't know that I bring in life out in the open, LOL...

So many people are like this...
Sometimes I think they just don't have an understanding of the difference between venting anxiety and just wallowing in it.

You are right .... time to move on -- your bad parents are
no longer raising you!! This is an excellent line Ariala: "
When only one person carries the whole conversation because they have a desperate need to tell everyone their problems or past problems and don't give others a chance to talk, you can bet you're dealing with someone who is troubled on many levels." I work with someone like this ... and she hears absolutely NOTHING if it has nothing to do with her - she will even abruptly leave the room if the conversation is about anything else LOL.

Elyse, yes, compassion is what I strive for, and compassion must call
people to a higher state of vibration, for love wants what's best for others and misery is not a good place to leave them...sometimes, though, that's what they experience through default... been there, done that, and I know sometimes nothing anyone says can chase the blues away

Ariala, this is such a good blog to raise points and attention to humanity...for humanity sings loud at times from their free voice ~ and it's by choice, we choose to listen or ignore. I understand what you speak of here and at times I feel awkward in my listening but try to hear - to understand and yes, at times even excuse myself from blatantly, crude vents. I pray to have compassion and to be what part I need to be - as one on a 'vine' or branch of life. But, you raise good points about knowing when to hold - keep or even fold the cards we, all in life may grip. ~Have a wonderful day and write on!!~ Elyse

shelly, we can all figure out ways to deal with what is until what is
becomes what we want and hope for.

NightTide and Jm, thank you both...I think sometimes we need to journal
our experiences for ourselve...other times we need to vent and be heard, be received and find rapport and acceptance, but we do ourselves and others harm by constantly indulging in the dangerous trap of self-pity...I still contend like Ayn Rand that "Emotions are not tools of cognition."

There was a time when I wanted to get out of Ohio really bad..
of course, that wasn't an option. Still isn't. I use to blame my mom and her illness for this because I had to be close to her. Now I just deal with what I have to do and live with it. It's not all that bad.

This is a great post and you make very good points about the different gradations of confession. A lot of times I write fiction or poetry in the first person that people take as being about "me," but it's really not. I don't know what else to say except that you made great points all around.

I Value your words....
and I completely agree that meeting other people who have it worse than you does bring your own life into perspective. It is a lesson that I never forgot and it made me smile to read your blog and see it in writing. Thank you!
