I have a tube radio. Reminds me of days before instant-on transistors.
That's another point to lose juice and generate a little heat. Many "instant-on" appliances aren't really totlly off, but basically on "hold", constantly drawing some electricity.

maj, I just read in our newspaper that it actually SNOWED three inches

up on our Mt. Lemmon , an hour up the mountain from Tucson.  It is only 26 miles, but the road climbs and winds and takes a long time to follow. Called Islands in the Sky....but snow.

I knew that it was chilly here in town for a few days, but snow in May. Amazing. It was 90 here in town before the three day chill and it is 90 again.....funny old pueblo.

Impatient me, I want heat to get up to 100 degrees the minute that I turn on the car heater and I want the air conditioner to cool the car down to 62 degrees within one minute, when I am feeling really hot. Just like you said we idiots demand....
