Oddy, your logic falls flat
Now I will give you that he Muslims do view Satan
in the same manner as Christians, but that is only TWO groups. And those two
groups do NOT make up the majority of religious beliefs in the
world.
The true historic character of Satan, as followed
by the Church of Satan, is much older than the Christian myth of the character
and is a force of nature. I have tried to explain to you that these are TWO
very different characters from differing forms of mythology, although
the Christians did steal greatly from the Pagan concept in order to try and pain
the Pagans as being evil.
And of course once more we hit the same wall as
ever where I have to point out to you that historically according to the beliefs
and experiences of a great many people in this world, Christianity is evil. So
that means (According to your logic) that it would be foolish for anyone to
align themselves with a group that is considered by so many to be evil, such as
the Christians.
And a turtle is a very tough creature and I am
rather disappointed that you would insult such a fine animal. It would be a
proud name for a football team. Now snails are not really tough, so I'll give
you that one. But a turtle is not an animal to be taken lightly.

Actually Christians are not the only group that believes in Satan
or that uses Satan in its parables to explain the belief system. Virtually all major religions have a
similar figure that represents the sour side of man. The historical context within which Satan has been developed
is the epitome of evil. Because of
the historical context associated with such a figure, it makes little sense to
try to utilize Satan as a mascot around a modern religion that does not embrace
evil. That would be like using a
snail or turtle mascot to try to represent a fierce football team instead of something
like a tiger or cougar. Using
Satan as a mascot for a religion that contends to be virtuous will do nothing
but draw suspicion and distrust because it is a representation that is
inconsistent with a much broader historical context.

SATAN IS A SERVANT OF GOD IN THE BIBLE -- HANGS OUT WITH GABRIEL AND ALL
That's in Job. His function is as a gadfly -- "Devil's Advocate" -- testing the mettle.
Of Job.
And of Jesus later.
That's a legitimate function. Without the testing, neither Job nor Jesus would have been able to grow and learn, etc.
