Great post Taps :-)  ( The stupid rule of 15 letter minimum is Off...thankfully)

Great writing!

I'll be glad when they make a decision.  I'm tired of hearing about them.

I still think I'll vote for Regis.

Re: Of course
I think they have just changed something here today.  It won't let me post anything with less than 15 letters.  Now what is that?

Of course
This will all resolve itself if Obama and Hillary finally admit they're in love!

Whiskey, Both are necessary to keep each other in check, but I'm not a die-hard anything in politics.  I see good, and bad, in both.

I'm never really
convinced by that argument. I think that political divisions of Left and Right usually have a fair bit of substance. That's why it's such an enduring dichotomy...

Re: Clever post
Whiskey, I like this quote from the preface to the book, Hired Hatred:  "...races and families are needlessly splintered over who among them is a Liberal vs. Conservative or a Republican vs. Democrat. These people’s heads are also filled with meaningless ideological and racial stereotypes, such as Republicans are better at organizing and sustaining the military; Republicans will cut taxes and trim government; Democrats are generally poor, black or Jewish; Democrats are better at domestic policy; and Liberals are Democrats and only Conservatives are Republicans. With these set political prejudices ingrained in discussions of government there is generally no talk of policy or flexibility, once someone identifies with a political party or ideology. Further, this distracting political prejudice is a major part of what takes the focus off the government and places it on the political game playing..."

Clever post

I like your new political edge. I always took you for a moderate Republican, but now I'm starting to wonder...

Mmmm.

Re: TAPS
Justi, I get the most interesting emails about the political race.   My friend "R" in Phoenix, My sis in KC, and another friend keep them coming from friends all over.  "R" is for Obama, Sis is for Hillary, friend in Outer Banks is for McCain.  It's quite a read every day.  Lots of email haggling.  LOL

Ciel, It would be a much more interesting contest between the two David's if they were closer in age.  Archuleta is just so young.  He's like a kid not an idol.  LOL

You may be right, vickip.  I would not at all mind her winning, even though Cook is from my area.

She is not out of it yet, Pat_B.  She may be put out tonight, but she's still there at the moment.  Isn't she a pretty and talented one?  I really love watching and listening to her.

I don't think that politics will wind down, just the battle between Clinton & Obama.  We're just getting started on the one between McCain & Whoever wins that one.

EX_TURPI, I wonder if voting for President of the USA will ever become as quick and simple as voting for American Idol.

Don't know Offy.  They make you wait.

Taps...I am so over these elections already...I have no idea whom I will vote for but I do know it will NOT be OBAMA~Now who won the Idol contest?

posted by Offy on May 14, 2008 at 7:17 AM | link to this | reply

Taps: Your comparison is very creative. After all, they are both reality shows. Alike, it is the votes that determine the winner. Unlike Idol, in politics you may hang on way beyond your usefulness. Yet, we live in a great country where democracy, a messy concept, has taken hold. Thanks for your inciteful piece. Stay well.

YES

Where are the black women running for President? Ladies, what is going on? Women of colour where are you when you are needed?

Answer - they are probably too busy with really important stuff that keeps the world turning, rather than the politics of the Presidential race. I don't understand how you people in the USA can stand to have all this electioneering going on for a year every four years. I think I would want to sell the TV.

Too bad Syesha isn't a candidate: we'd have the best of all worlds --
a lovely woman of color who can sing the blues -- and show tunes.

Excellent juxtaposition!

Quite alike, these contests, eh?  I'm not one for these reality shows, political or otherwise, but will get more involved as the election year progresses....and probably write-in Michael Bloomberg!

Too funny Taps ... great post.  I'm thinking there may be an upset tomorrow night ... like Sayeisha my stay and Archuletta or David will go home.  Or not.  Loved this post, lmao.

I think it slipped past some viewers when Simon disparaged David's

dancing, and David said, "Was there dancing?"  or something to that effect.  I think he was just moving around, using the space more than he usually does, but didn't consider it dancing.

Of all this season's talents, he is the only one I would pay to hear in concert or recording.  That's how I decide who I want to win.  David Cook is good, he has great charm and personal appeal--but Archuleta makes it seem effortless and so natural!  Syesha likewise is good, but working at it.

Whatever happened to those televisions they had (very briefly it seems) that you could watch more than one program at a time?

Guess those didn't work out?

WileyJohn, I guess that we shall see what we shall see.  I like to think that if he does become our president, that he will be an asset and make changes for the better.

It was the dance that he did while he sang.  LOL.  He's just barely 17, very short and baby faced and was doing something he doesn't usually do.

LOL...well TAPS, since I don't watch TV, I'm counting on you to give me an update...LOL...but, now was it the chihauhua face that the tiger sneered at? or was it the basketball score that threw me off (I have no clue) Thanks for the update anyways, I'll return later u ~Elyse

That was Simon Cowell saying that to David A.  I watched and I think your boy will probably win.  He was truly the best of tonight's competition.  As for the election, yes, Obama got his butt beat - what does it all mean - I don't know.  She's sure hanging in there.  I'm still going to vote for John McCain though, no matter what.  I'm enjoying these two battle it out though.  She doesn't give up easily, does she?

Yes, TAPS, take a bubble bath, drink a glass of wine, and get some rest!  hahaha Maggie
