years ago, a clairvoyant told me my children were strong people, and often challenging (he was right about that one), but they were good for my soul.  I've often remembered that when I've felt like banging their heads together ...  You become quite exhausted trying to teach them nicer ways of asking, I'd forgotten that now that mine are grown. You are doing a great job, and one day your children will realise it too :)

If you can't have a rant where you are anonymous, where can you have one?  As for rearing children - at Christmas our elder daughter stood, shaking her head at her three teenagers and said "this breeding business is over-rated."

whinebagging? but then, there is always a tomorrow for that, no?

I am trying really hard to fake being up and happier than before and more optimisitic and positive and I am fooling some of the people some of the time, but not fooling all of the people all of the time.

Practice, practice, practice.........Have a golly good gracious day.

As for how to be a mother -- a perfect mother -- NOBODY KNOWS...

Give 'em everything and you're indulgent. Discipline them and you're harsh. Make 'em work, clean their rooms, do chores, etc., and you're taking advantage. Let 'em eat anything they want and they become obese. They grow up and take the criminal path: poor mothering. They grow up and become rich robber barons who manipulate their workers: poor mothering. They get involved with drugs to spite you: poor... well, you know. If you're scrambling to make ends meet and working two or three jobs, you're neglectful. If you're there every minute and at every school activity, every after-school deal, etc., you're smothering. If you're strong and in charge, you're bossy and emasculating. If you're submissive and obedient to an abusive husband, you're a poor example of womanhood. If you live your own life and serve as an example of someone who values herself, who follows her bliss, is that a bad thing? I don't think so.

The greatest is to love them.  sam

Parenting is a total challenge.
Someone I know once asked if a mother loves all her children the same, and a mother answered him, "how could they?  Each of my children is different.  I have to love them each for what they are."  That stuck with me for many years.

Good treatise on motherhood, Azur.  It's true, we do have to play it by ear.  One never knows what they will do or how they will react with their children until they come to that door.

Whenever I'm being tested I think to myself...

"You stay here, I go home at 3:30, I win"...no, wait, that's work.

But you are right. We squeaky wheels work hard, oh so hard, and for what? "What?", I ask you?

What?! Grease??!

It's not fair, dammit. Whiners Unite!! You snivelling complaining running yellow dogs, where is the mutual support!?

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
