jmh256 - The best thing about Mozilla Thunderbird is its flexability
It has a nice, clean and easy to use interface with a few options not found on all email programs. The real key to eliminating spam however is the email web service you are using, their web interface should have some form of a filtering utility. Mozilla Thunderbird has a number of plug ins and filters (filters are the most important means of controlling your inbox) but it is always nice to be able to edit spam filter rules in a program such as SpamAssassin.

I have heard great things about Mozilla. Maybe I should give it a try. I'm getting spam text messages on my cell now.

sam444 - This is a simple solution that immediately addressed the auto-spam
But it cannot be a permanent solution as it has the potential to frustrate legitimate enquiries. In my email set up, I was using an email address based on my commercial domain name from my webspace, forwarded to my email client. I deleted the webmail email inbox and the email forwarder for this email address, then set up an auto-response. That email address now only has auto response, which sends back a link to the secure email contact form which has a human challenge on it. Only humans can proceed from there. Liken it to throwing the baby out with the bath water but having a rope tied around the baby.
