Re: Re: Hudson River School
Thanks so much, gapcohen.  I will copy this info down.  A dear friend of mine who is a docent at the PAM wants to go with me whenever I go.  I mentioned it to him about six months ago that I wanted to go there and he is as interested as I in doing that.

Caramoor Summer Music Festival in Katonah----that sounds like an interesting side jaunt for us to do next time we do a long weekend in NYC...is there a website or something?

Re: Hudson River School

Hi, Taps - here's what I pulled off the web;

The Hudson River School Art Trail is a three-mile historic theme trail is part of a larger network comprised of seven sites linking the home of Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School, with painting sites that inspired the work of many artists in the nineteenth century. Thomas Cole's home is now a National Historic Landmark and today provides an orientation for your exploration of the Hudson River School Art Trail.

Cole's home is in Catskill, NY.  Another place you might consider is Westpoint.  It's open for tours and has million dollar views from a promentory on campus.  A GORGEOUS place where our young men and women train to be military officers!

gacophen, I'm very interested in the 19th century American art movement of landscape painters called The Hudson River School.  I love their paintings of the Hudson River Valley, the Catskill, Adirondack and White Mountains.   Do you know of any special places to visit concerning that?

Oh my mind's on my own last post, but with Washington Irving on mind, love. I've passed through Sleepy Hollow, long the Hudson River, and the beautiful wooded areas of Westchester County. Also, I love the colorful hills. Finally, I went to college in Bronxville. What a folksy train station with a friendly cab driver back in the 70s.
