Adirondacks

I'm here now, again, FineYoungSinger.  Just brought my son back to school and I get to hang out and walk the 2.7 mile rim around Mirror Lake.  75, sunny and in transition.  In April, all residents leave so that construction crews can spruce the place up for the Spring/Summer season.  Majestic here!

Taps, you SHOULD come!  So wild, yet great restaurants and shops! AND ORDA (Olympic Regional Develpment Association) - you can visit where the 1980 US Hockey team won against the Russians, ride a bobsled (my 75 year old Mom rode a virtual one), and so many other Olympic things to do!

Gapcohen, you got me checking out all these places you mentioned and wishing I might take a little vacation there instead of where I ought to go.

Re: Adirondacks

It's a five hour drive and I have ties here, so I spend at least a weekend a month in Lake placid.  But I love to travel everywhere.  I LOVED Africa; Botswana and Zimbabwe (before the raging mess there).  Morocco, Spain, France, England - and lots of trips to Israel.  I have lots of friends and family there. Lake Placid is a local haunt.

About 5 years ago, we traversed the "mitten" of Michigan.  I'd never seen the Great Lakes and wanted to take them all in.  So we drove from NY and went up the East coast to the UP (camped out in "Christmas," MI on Lake Superior), then drove down the more preppy West Coast side before heading through Kellog and home.  A really fun family trip. Great memories and beautiful country.

I have never been to the Adirondacks. It would take a lot to drag me away from walking the beaches of South Haven, MI during the summer. I like staying close to home. And, when we travel, really travel, we do it big.......diving Grand Cayman or Europe.
