Re: Marilla tells Anne (In Anne of Green Gables)
(oops) that to despair is to turn your back on God.  It's a good thought!
More to the modern terminology, providence tells us to live in the present, be in that moment.  I saw a documentary about a young man seeking to find his "roots" much as Alex Haley did in the 70s.  Sometimes, one must discover himself through his ancestry but it almost robbed him of his present.  He almost overlooked who this other person IS today.  This is a great topic!

Sanity
is a work in progress. Wow, I like that! I think I will borrow it sometime should I need it like a bat to someone's knees. I still have anger that rises from time to time, but with this little verbal bat I think I may be able to keep myself in check a bit more. Thank you for stopping in again today. Always a pleasure.

Fortunately, for me...
...I've always had a positive outlook on life, in spite of my past experiences. For some reason, I've never been prone to despair or depression...for long. I can have my heart broken like anyone else, but, I get over it. I write angry blogs sometimes to point out injustices. But, overall, I'm a happy guy. I used to tell my kids that sanity is a work in progress. Not something you arrive at for once and for good. You keep over-shooting and under-shooting it, 'till you manage to stay in the vicinity of the bulls-eye. Happiness is basically the same....a work in progress. Sorry for the rant. Excellent post, Joel!
