Re: And yet ...
Great point! Now that is something to think about. I think you are on to something there. Crankiness is a good thing, lol!

And yet ...
... the Republic survives. Nothing much new in what you say, sounds a lot like Adams's speeches attacking Jefferson in 1800. :) And yet, the Republic survives.

Maybe our very crankiness is one of our strengths.

Now that was a true load of BS
I am very much surprised that in a post where you basically do nothing but make blind judgment calls against someone for their style and their views, that you are trying to say it is them who need to grow up.  Every single word of this posts felt like something the stuck up kids in Junior High would say. You know, the ones who do all they can to make it clear how great they are and how superior everything about them is compared to everyone else.  Look how often you call liberals names, either as a group of the individuals themselves.  Look at how often you are more concerned with putting down those who disagree with you instead of trying to get what you believe expressed in a positive manner.

People like you are much more dangerous and are mush less likely to think things out than the 'Goths' who you seem to be irrationally afraid of.

As for being able to say what Obama is for, or has accomplished, can you really say what McCain or any of your candidates are for or have accomplished at the drop of a hat?  Hell, the only real accomplishment that Bush could be credited with before he became president was in getting a professional baseball up and going again (Not that he did it on his own without lots and lots of help), after having failed multiply times in the oil business.  If one goes and looks at Obama's record he has done as much as any other candidate out there on either side.

Re:

Everything here on BLOGIT from every writer is his or her own opinion and/or beliefs. I believe that this fact should already be known to all. Such is the case of the BLOGIT writer Kooka who expresses his opinion strongly and has every right to express his opinion, as do I. Speaking of rights, I never once said that the young man did not have the right to support Obama. You must read carefully although I realize that emotions can sometimes influence what you may be reading into what you want to read.

Again, all of my blogs are of my own opinion just like yours. If you wish to disagree then that is your right as well. My objective argument was made in that the response I received from the young man on what were Obama's accomplishments was met with just another "He gives great speeches." To help you understand this, I have written many times that this response is the only one I receive when I ask that question, from everyone. Speeches are not accomplishments. Understand? As for who made me the arbiter of who is right may be also asked of writers such as Kooka. All of his blogs beg this question. My answer is no one, because it is my opinion and this response goes for everyone on this website.

RedStaesMan:

Perhaps, you should recall that the first amendment of our Constitution affords each person the privilege of expressing him or herself in whatever manner he or she wishes provided the such expression is so constrained not to cause harm or damage to any other. Then you may consider the tenet that your views are uniquely your own and are not sanctified by any God or approved by the consensus of any authoritative body. That you have a right to them is indisputable. In the same sense you may accord every other person, whether 18 or 88, the same right. I am sure, you will conclude that is the sensible thing to do.

Good discourse criticizes objectively. Read Plato, or Freud, or Stuart Mill,  or Pericles, or Lincoln, and on and on. They make their points and support them. Nowhere do they dehumanize anyone with whom they disagree. Why do you have a right to support Senator McCain but the young man with whom you converse do not have the right to support Senator Obama? What are your objective arguments for your conclusions? What are the criteria, not your opinion, which  make you the arbiter of who is right?

Maybe, you may recall that Mozart was still a boy when he produced some of the world's greatest compositions; Ode On A Grecian Urn was written by John Keats way before his death at 26. There are many more examples of these. Think on these things.

In you post you make assertions for which you give no facts. All influential writers support their conclusions with evidence. Calling people names and attempting to dehumanize them do not make the accuser less than an idiot.

Stay well; walk good my friend.
