Hey TAPS:  Sadly, you are right...it's a shame, isn't it?  (Citizens of Europe looked the other way too...as Hitler rose to power.)

FineYoungSinger, those are all things we don't want to see.  Its easier to look the other way.

Re: There are a lot of things
Thanks for reading Sira---and that's the thing---the Constitution of the United States is supposed to protect America from the things on that list for happening.  Due process, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion....all have just been ignored not just by this administration, but also by the american people that are laying down and letting them do it...

There are a lot of things

about the American government rules and policies that drive me a bit nutty, and most of them were on that list!

Great post, even if the subject matter is a little disturbing

Re: FineYoungSinger,

Hey Glennb, thanks for reading.  I agree...and look who his VP was.  and take a look at who the current VP is....Chaney has been working toward expanding the powers of the oval office since the Ford Administration.

Re:
vogue, quite the contrary.  If you are looking at the rest of the world, they hate America.

FineYoungSinger,
I maintain that Ronald Reagan ushered in this era of "devine" President! Where the party in power "rules" absent the consent and advice of the other branches of government! I am not certain this election cycle will void that obvious conflict with the Constitution of th eUnited States of America?

Care to look at the rest of the world? What do you see? Many are following the "example" of America.

ratings is not the purpose of News programs.  Informing the public is.  Isn't it sad?

Re: Sadly, I'm afraid that's the way it's always been.
strat--Actually, Wolf addresses this, and history proves that "fascist" policy, following the end of crisis for which the policy was implemented, is in all cases either overturned or declared unconstitutional by the courts, and the decision is taken to heart. Civil War, WWI and WWII policies are held up as examples.  Today, however, the authority of the courts is being ignored, and the executive branch is acting outside of it's lawful power to an unprecidented level here in America.

Sadly, I'm afraid that's the way it's always been.
I think it was Huey Long that best put it into perspective(I think it was Kingfish, that is!). Someone asked him if we had fascism in this country. He said something like, "Sure, only we call it 'anti-fascism.'"

Re: FineYoungSinger,
Glennb...the way out of the wilderness is to not lie down and let our rights be taken...the preamble ot the constitution states:  WE THE PEOPLE....not we the federal government that speaks for the people.

Re: I saw her being interviewed and totally agree with what she was saying.
Thanks Ariala...the most important point she makes is to keep the democratic process alive by FEARLESSLY reporting, writing, presenting opinions and participating in the democratic process.  Sadly, though, Americans are being lulled to sleep by "bread and circus."  *SIGH*

FineYoungSinger,
Unless we vanish from the Planet, we will have to find our way out of this wilderness or perish here on Earth due to our own inaction!
