Hi, Pat
At least you've got the picking up as you go part down.  I'm still working on that.  And, as far as dust bunnies go, I think some of mine were on the verge of coming to life.  Since I too hate housework with a passion I think I'll follow your lead and get a dust mop for use once I've finished scrubbing all the floors down.  I liked the bit about the nagging of children.  I did the same thing with my son, and he now does it with the grandkids.  There are plenty of good intentions, but no neatness freaks in my family.

I used to hate (what the heck, I still do) housework. Especially washing
dishes. But I like to eat. And since I've been living on my own these last 15 or 20 years, I've come to appreciate the picking up as you go. But dust bunnies live out long and healthy lives in the remote corners and under things. I think it would be fun to have a Roomba - and let a robot clean the floors. But in these economic times that's a "want" and not a "need," so I'll just get out the dust mop when the kids are scheduled to visit. Don't want 'em to figure out all that nagging to clean their rooms was fake.
