In 1966 our town in Central Kentucky had a black-only school, Dunbar, which was my school's chief rival every year in basketball. It was closed around '69, and all other schools had a time adjusting.

Now,I understand, there is a new integrated high school called Dunbar. New schools: it's the only way!

kingmi, I am one of the few bloggers here who can actually remember back to when that happened.  I was in the 11th grade of a segregated white school that was not many blocks away from the heart of the black district and the black high school.   What a time that high school had in the next few years trying to adjust.
