In his time, it was all persuasion by oratory. They had no scientific method or logic to craft their arguments with. So, we still suffer the deluge of oratory by stupid people who appeal to everything except our brains!

I am of the persuasion that persuasion is an act of persuading or being persuaded and rhetoric is the vehicle employed to reach that end. sam
