Re: I asked my dad about voting once
he was absolutely right. A well learned lesson, and words of wisdom for the rest of us!

Re: I keep commenting around blogit that in Aust. voting is compulsive as it
kabu, that's a great attitude. Here in America quite a few suffered for the right to vote---and look at how many do little to honor their efforts by carrying out their civic duty.

Re: FineYoungSinger
hi Taps----I wish Ohio did some of these things....but Ohio has one of the better voting records among the states. However it's not nearly as good as it could be. that is a great idea, voter registration at the BMV. you have to go there anyway, right?

I asked my dad about voting once
back when I was a little kid (furious that I wasn't allowed to fill out a ballot of my own!).
"Why do you bother--is your one little vote really going to make a difference?"
"Some elections are won or lost by a margin of only a handful of votes." Dad said. "My vote does make a difference, and so will yours."
Even at the tender age of 10, when I only wanted to vote because "everyone else" could, those words had an impact on me. Now, I'm a huge believer in casting my vote every chance I get. It's important, it's a privilege that people have fought to get, and it does make a difference.

I keep commenting around blogit that in Aust. voting is compulsive as it
should be. Folks have died for the right to vote. It seems to me to be the duty of all people who have the opportubity to vote.

Your
click here opportunity is great for anyone who has not yet registered to vote. In our State of MO, when anyone renews their driver's license or car registration or car license plates, they are given an opportunity to register to vote. There are other oppotunities also. No one really has a good reason not to vote, only excuses.
