Go to Ranting by HdiddleAdd a commentGo to Have I changed?

it's all about having the heart for it myr Hdiddle........
i'd be honest sweetheart, i havent checked on your former or recent posts...but as for changing and maturing in writing...it sure is a process dear...you remain in touch with your old passion (writing) yet you widen your horizon as you grow as a person and as a writer, whatever the transition dear, it doesnt make you less of a writer but an even better writer...coz experiences will be your guide to betterment....along with the ingenuity of your heart's passion...just keep writing dear.....

To answer your question, I had to go back and read what you wrote before...

Rants is rants, and an artform of its own, but frankly, my dear, I only seem to really give a damn about my own rants...  So I actually applaud the shift towards maturity that is evident in your latest.  It isn't enough to rage unless is it exceedingly witty and clever, like Terry Pratchett who most times doesn't seem to be ranting at all... but he is!  Or like that commedian, who rages across the stage... Louis Black and never says anything nice about anything.  The more you mature, the more you see the depths of things, and with your intelligent and incisive observation, the less you will be satisfied with ranting about superficials and inconsequentials.  (I have not said a word about Paris Hilton here...)  The deeper they get, the more interesting your rants become, and the more your opinion will become uniquely yours.

It's clever to toss in your rant, and then ask for readers to add theirs!  I did, and enjoyed it!

You also asked in the Cafe for some comment on your writing generally.  I think you have a talent for expressing yourself, and a facility with the language that suggests whatever you write in the coming years will have quality to it.  A suggestion: write about everything, anything, all the time...  write your heart and your mind, write whatever you are moved to write...  You don't need to share it all around to everyone, but as you write you will discover your personal style and refine your skills.  Write, among other things, letters to the people you love.  Not just the ones you are in love with, but the ones you deeply love, like family and closest friends, like mentors and those who would choose you for a mentor.
