Whysper - yes that is typical of a Linux web server
The only thing I miss about a Windows web server is the dragging and dropping of folders. (are you sure your webspace does not have auto-install for Wordpress?) If it does not, you will have to become familiar with using an FTP program. Here is a good free one: Filezilla

Ok, this is probably staring me in the face
but the file manager of yahoo seems to only move files not folders, is that typical? I wanted to try and install Wordpress on my current website to play with it. I downloaded and unzipped the file into a folder and now I want to get all of that into my subdirectory of  the MySQL database on my website. I can't figure out how to move the whole folder at once, any ideas?

mysteria - that is great news . . . . and I can help

If you are planning to sell items online, I have extensive experience at doing so. The very first thing I suggest that you do is learn a store script. A digital camera is a must and you will need basic image editing skills. I would recommend that the only expenditure that you make prior to learning an online store script is the digital camera and then spend nothing more. The tutorials must be read, your head will be bombarded with knowledge but when the time comes to open your online store, you will have accumulated a valuable and transportable skillset. (especially the image editing) . . . you have to get good at image editing to run your own online store.

Now the real fund part. Imagine that you are a return customer landing on your online store to place a detailed order. You want product information, you want to be able to find what you want quickly and you want to know the totals, pay instantly by credit card and leave the order in the store owners capable hands. Trusting that the order will get to where it is supposed to be promptly.

This will entail integrating shipping estimate software. I have set an installed osCommerce template aside just for this purpose. It would be the perfect place for you to learn the concept and gain a solid overview.

Sooooo, follow these short instructions: Go to my template development store and register as a customer. You cannot buy anything, all of the products are fictitious placeholders but run your self through the purchasing process of an online client.  That store is HERE (Please make up a fictitious address while registering, I don't want anyone's addresses) There is a rudimentary client control panel where things can be changed and each client can add additional goods delivery addresses. This function is ideal for any online store where gifts are sold or even as a supply outlet for multiple branches of one client company.

Basically I'm saying get the education before making any purchasing decisions (aside from a digital camera set up with an image editing process on your computer)

am in the process of getting my ducks in a very nice row.

This information has been added to my "Manifesting My Destiny From The Cutting Edge of the New World"file gome and willl surely be a resource for me in the not so far off offing...
