Majroj, I think you are describing New Hampshire.
That's the "Don't Tread On Me" "No Taxes" state. Vermont has a much more intact social service system. It is also a generally Liberal
state. (Howard Dean is Governor). Besides I'd want to live in
Burlington, the city part of Vermont, near the airport.

Would it offer the environment you truly want?
Vermont strikes me as veing like Oregon.
Lots of folks move to Oregon and discover low valuation of education by parents, kids and schools alike, a semi-feudal attitude towards the workforce by the big employers, and a huge population of working poor adults, single pregnant teenaged moms, and drug/alcohol abuse. The dignity of folks shines through, but they pay for it as they yearn for the old days of the saw mills (and attendant high rates of worker disability and death).
How's Vermont stack up?
