Comments on Courts rule that schools can offend Christians

I would have to see the story

before making one point or another. If the story was promoting homosexuality and the teacher was teaching children all about an "alternative lifestyle", then yes, I would agree- far too advanced for kindergarten. However common sense tells me this story was merely about a child who had two moms or two dads, and meant to teach more about tolerance for people who are different then another way of life.

By the way, in the world, your kids may go to school with kids who come from that kind of home. While as a parent, you do have a right to choose how your kids are taught, that's why you also teach your kid, get involved with what they're learning at school, have an OPEN dialouge with their teacher if you have concerns about what your child is being taught, and be open to listen.

It is your responsibility as a parent to teach your children right from wrong, but you also need to make them aware of the world around them.

Re: ..kindergarten kids and intimacy
Thanks for your comments It was more the age deal for me,  my 5 yr. old maybe too immature for these kinds of issues, I want to tell her when I think she can handle it.

...and let me say once again that dial up sucks.

I can never complete a comment on this stinkin connection!!!!

Anyway....

Discussions about intimate relationships, regardless the level of intimacy, just don't need to be brought up in kindergarten.  Kids at that age learn much more from how adults act and react.  Kids that age learn to hate because their parents hate, not because the school neglected to teach them tolerance using a story book.

Parental Responsiblility

is becoming an archaic thought in this country. As for Christians being slammed every time they turn around, that's the power of the liberal movement that has grown since the civil turmoil of the 60's cultural revolution in the USA.

A whole generation of citizens in this country have grown up thinking that Uncle Sugar is going to take care of them and has the right to be in control of the smallest facets of their lives. My wife and I ended up home schooling our kids when the home schooling movement was just beginning. It was tough fifteen years ago but the sacrifice and effort was worth it.

Stand up and be counted, no one in the government nor any of its agencies cares more for your children than you do.

As much as this will shock you, I agree with you.
To me, this is no different than teaching kindergartners about shacking up.  Come on.  Leave all that until they're able to fully comprehend it.  Kindergarten is too young.

Thought
I am in total agreement with 'my child' 'my rights' etc. I was that kind of mom. I mean by law we have to hand over our children to the state 8 hours 5 days a week. Yeah, I took up issues alot when my children were children. Perhaps though, as I read your post, the story that was read may have been more about 'tolerance' of people who are different? Perhaps the teacher was merely trying to prove that everyone in this world has rights, black, white, purple, men and women. I don't think the kindergarten class was being told a sexual story.

She is YOUR little one, you DO have the say!  Teach her well, so her foundation will be solid.

Re: I didn't read it the 5 yr. olds had to
Haven't a clue as to how graphic it was, just making the point that schools have no business in the area of religion (of course you would agree)nor do I want them teaching my little girl about sex in any form. They shouldn't decide when she learns how babies are made either. This is my job alone and I will fight for it.

I suppose I'd have to know what you mean by "explaining" the gay lifestyle. What EXACTLY IS the "gay lifestyle"?  Zen
