Your story has made me go searching for the interactive map of present-day Europe to see what countries have become what since the days of your grandmother. The European map is so different than it was in the days of my early schooling when we studied geography. I'm assuming that your grandmother was somewhere in what is now Serbian or one of the neighboring areas. My Grandmother came to America from Czechoslovakia, from what is now The Czech Republic.
