I don't think fighting is necessary
but I also wouldn't waste energy fighting with people I didn't care about.
I tell my hubby all the time "I wouldn't be this upset if I didn't care!". He, like you, thinks it's a bit nuts. Maybe using anger to show affection is a girl thing...
