when the enemy was Japanese they called them NIPS for Nipponese....
And gooks for Vietnamese. We use dehumanizing vocabulary and labels to allow the death of our labelled enemies with no real concern for their humanity as they are not human beings as we are, but they are gooks and nips and all that bad stuff.
And, the presidential candidates who are most in touch with reality in America, will never even be allowed t.v. time.
So, the new president will never deal with reality as the candidates were never forced to discuss it. If candidates talk of anything but what is really wrong with this nation, then they waste our time and will waste and squander it when elected.
I hope that Islamists pray for our leadership, for the sanity, kindness and maturity of our leaders. I haven't seen much of these qualities displayed during the campaigning, however.

It's normal
When the enemy was Germany, they used the word 'nazi'.
When the enemy was Japan, the used the word 'Japanese'.
When the enemy was the Soviet Union they used the word 'communist'.
Now that the enemy attacks in the name of Allah, they use the word 'Islamic'.
It's normal for politicians to this when it comes to national enemies.

they are all playing to fears of the public
and applying a provincial, nationalistic, almost isolationist rhetoric, and not making contact with the rest of the world.
as if the U.S. rules the world, and the rest of the world exists as the behest of the U.S.
counterproductive and destructive world view.
