Re: Wow!... Those first sentences:
You humble me, Old_Dutchman.  What an honor to have someone copy and print something of mine in order to read it in the shade of the trees.   Trees are among the favorite things of my life.

Wow!... Those first sentences:

Now and then a desire overtakes me to write about the old house.  It was in the spring of love, when beauty sparkled as sunbeams upon our faces, that we found it.  Immediately we knew it was for us, and for our children to come, and our grandchildren we would one day cherish.

So beautiful!... And your style is very elegant!

The sun is shining here in Flanders, it is like an early summer day... I'm gonna print those pages and read them in the shade of the trees in my backyard!

Thanks for reading it all, Elyse.  I know it is long.  Originally, I posted it in about six or seven different parts.   Thank you for your comment.

Thank you, Joab.  This grandson that I just sent it to, is the grandson that used to mow the grass for his uncle who lived there.  He didn't know that I wrote this, and I was surprised to know that most of that stuff he didn't know about because we just had never told him.  He didn't know that the house was originally built for the owner of a burial vault company in 1900, or that at one time around 1960, my husband found an urn of cremains stuck up in the raftors of the basement.  We talked about all of that yesterday.

Thank you, Sira
I'm glad you enjoyed.  I'm working on another story.  I never know whether to do little bits at a time or just to throw the whole thing out there.

I couldn't stop reading this story. Aside from your excellent presentation, I cannot imagine such an experience in my life. Your losses along the way are so heart breaking. You are such a wonderful mother. This is a story for the ages.  sam
