Azur there has to be a special name for that steadfastness.
I think the concept of "hero" parallels the prevalence of "media", be it TV or troubadors. And as I mentioned before, if ther are "heroes" then there have to be "victims" to be "rescued"...sometimes forcing people into archetypes which don't fit.

...there are many instances where no one responds. Or people respond and they become victims too.

I think anyone can be a hero. It may be circumstantial and a heroic deed can be done.
