Corbin - -I agree

The Top Bands Of The 20th And 21st Centuries
Xeno-X: You or no one mentioned one of the greatest Rock Bands of all time if not THE GREATEST: The Who!  What about Van Halen?  I don't know if anyone mentioned Metallica or Van Halen?  Also Emerson Lake & Palmer, Steve Miller Band, REM, BTO!

I'd almost add Molly Hatchet on the strength of the Frazetta covers.
but I don't really know their music.

Gosh, let's see:
Quicksilver Mesenger Service, The Who, The Band, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Hendrix, Pearl Jam...all of those are long lasting, profoundly seminal groups -- either spawning new generations or influencing existing ones.

I'll add THREE DOG NIGHT to the mix

but not in the same rarified atmosphere at those five in the post.

they did make good music, and it appeals to a broad audience.  they just didn't have the influence the others did.

Electric Light Orchestra
McKendree Spring
Quicksilver Messenger Service
