Perhaps; but how do you come to trust anyone? He must be able to articulate his position; he must be convincing; and you must  be confident he can take you where you want to go. If all these constitute your definition of trust, I agree with you.

But if you're on an island...
...with strangers, how can you tell which one to trust. Even the guy who said "I know the way" could be a liar. You can only trust someone when you know them. Otherwise, it is just blind faith, don't you think?
