the novels, not the muses...

May we all find our muses, and finish our novels in 2008--
and sell them!

Congratulations on writing. I am trying to get back to my novel
you may just be my MUSE!

Rejection
Do not fear rejection and do not take it to heart. Consider it like an interview for a job. So you didn't get the first one but it gave you a peak as to what might be expected for the next go round. Stephen King was rejected so many times that he threw his first novel in the trash. It was his wife's perseverance that got him where he is today. Persevere my friend...persevere.

The Muze
A muse does not have to be present in body but in mind and spirit to inspire. I met one of my muses in a toy store once in San Francisco. We talked for a while and he became an unknowing inspiration for many poems and writings in the years to follow. We crossed paths again years later and the muse aura was broken.

rejection

The hardest thing I ever had to do was deal with my first rejection, I cried for days and days and days. Now, I just say oh, well, and try again and again and again. Remember, Mark Twain wallpapered a wall with rejections. Happy New Year and may 2008 be your best year ever. I'm sure your friend will be fine and the overwhelming will pass, it usually does.

I believe that every thread of our lives goes into our writing.  As for the bottom of your complicated heart - blush, don't mention it.

Azur, I don't have to believe in something as true as you :)
Merry X-mas

Azur

Put your faith in your writing and don't worry about how people feel about you. Writers are very special people. Feel special and write like you are special.

And Saul_Relative, you are funny:)

Your muse is a "he"? How daring... Mine is a guitar... I sit and listen to
instrumental music while composing.  Lyrics are distracting... At the moment the music happens to be Michael Angelo Batio's "Rain Forest."  An amazing talent...

Love the phrase "warmth in the undercurrents."
And the whole idea of it. Nice!  I hope you get all you need from the celebrations and your focus stays steady. I've been distracted, haven't edited or worked on my new "baby" for several days, but I'm ready to get back to it now.  :)pat
