Avanat-Garde, I'm blessed 2 read poists like your's -both sides of pitbulls
and humanity are discivered thereby! Yes, I agree with U and feel so blessed U have the Everyday-Christmas spirit. If we can imprison Michael Vick for killing dogs/pitbulls ... and not pour soldiers for raping & burning Iraqi teens/children ...then we ought to be consistent and punish all dog-abusers...or those like Ucan talk with the owners, have them repent, or willingly adopt these members of God's Creation. My friend's cat is so much like a person, I unhesitatingly say good morning, good night and bye to SunnyBoy whenever...& set time to play games with him. He picks toys & brings them upstaris or downstairs at times!! SHALOM

Avant-garde
You can sure see the power waiting to be unleashed.  So sad that power is so often directed into something bad.

The sad part is...
...that too many of these animals are brought into a home because they have to potential to be tough.

awwww....what a cutie! I just want to hug him.

It's one of the tough calls--whether the pit bull suffers from

an interfered-with genetic predispositon, or bad press.  Both are clearly factors--that this breed has been bred for generations in a certain direction, and that the press supports the horror stories rather than truth.  Someone should publish a collection of stories of pit-bulls that saved Timmy, rather than savaged him.

If they are indeed innately prone to violence, to snapping, then if anything can stabilize a pit-bull, I agree it's loving and cherishing it.  Some positive stories in this regard would be very reassuring.

avant...he does look like a handsome fella..I see no reason NOT to talk to his owner. Why do people get animals and leave them to the elements..I will never understand that type of thinking....

It's possible love could change him, but there's something
bred in the bone with a pit bull. As long as they're among civilized friends, all's well. But then a challenge, or a perceived one, can set the best intention on its ear.  You're right, he does have a sweet face. :)

avant- ...so true..animals end up however their owners treat them...
this guy looks like he could be a very happy, loving dog with the right upbringing.....

He is a good looking dog. I somehow hope he ends up with you because you seem to know animals. It would  be a travesty if he ended up mean without cause. sam
