I understand
that feeling so well, of always having to be forgiving, I really like mama joys advice. Take Care. I am planning my escape from sil if only to here during her visit.

Holidays doesn't mean instant happiness. You have to create you own. take a little bite out of eash day and create a small moment a gem of joy. It doesn't have to be big. It can come from a child's smile or the smell of cookies baking. Try to dwell on the gem moments and not the other. It's tough but rewarding.
I've had to distance myself from my mother. She loves me in her own way but can't stop critizising me. If you can't move --do put limits on your involvment with your inlaws. Just because they are next door and are your hubby's parents does NOT entitle them to your FULL company-- only bits. Your family consists of you, hubby and kids.
