What a beautiful picture you have posted. I, Myself have been known, okay...I always fall into depression regardless the month or season, but I'm getting help. A dear friend of mine called the night before last and she is NEVER depressed, wouldn't know it if it bit her in the ass, but bite her in the ass it did and hard. And so when she'd called and reached out to me, I'd listened to her for a couple of hours via the phone and she talked herself right out of it. So I suppose for some it helps to have someone who will just listen to you analyze your life situation and move on.

For many Christmas becomes a time of introspection.  For those who strive so hard to accomplish, achieve, or acquire things that they want this could very well include “What’s next” kind of thinking.  Sometimes we’re so busy chasing after goals that we neglect the necessity of emotional and spiritual nurturing.  For some reason Christmas triggers a personal inventory and some people, unfortunately, come up empty.  There a distinctive stages in our life; our 20’s when we’re trying o create a path, our 30’s when we marry and have children, our 40’s when we try to build our empire, and our 50’s when our children have grown up and we’ve met many of our material goals.  It’s at this stage of life that we seek something bigger, gander and often people don’t realize that means a more heightened spiritual footing or giving back to the community which can be so fulfilling.

I have dealt with depression a lot over the years....

I know when it starts to creep up on me now, which is not very often anymore as I have learn to control it, by not dwelling on things...not letting things bother me so much....by turning a negative into a positive....etc...

I hope your friend is ok....it's horrible when there is not much you can do...take care.

you would probably find stats om suicide are higher this time of year.   You sound like my daughter and I know she is right, why are you down mom, you have a good job, a nice home to live in, a new car,  3 great kids, and you dont suffer with any health problems.  Good Question

Maybe it brings back memories of wonderful times that can't be duplicated
anymore as some people have passed on; maybe it's the pressure of the holiday and what it should represent concerning family, love and etc., yet some people don't have that and get depressed; maybe it's lack of sunlight (S.A.D), maybe they need a good bitch slapping as if often the case with me and the

Offy; perhaps you can stay in touch. Have some conversation. Invite him over, if possible. It seems people tend to be depressed when others are not around. Loneliness is an undiagnosed cancer. Good news, loneliness is easily cured.

Good Morning, Offy hon
It has long been recognized that this 'Joyous Season' is not so joyous for all, for many reasons too complicated to get into here. There's a fair bit of research on this phenomenon, sometimes referred to as 'Holiday Season Depression'. Even suicide rates tend to peak at this time of year...
